Once you have that link, simply search google for free RSS directories and submit your URL to them, the more directories you submit to, the more automatic backlinks you get, every article you submit, meaning the more traffic you will get from your efforts. Simples!!

Unfortunately for us, in the beginning we are constantly duped by “sales lines” on fancy landing pages on the internet. Ones that promising overnight riches with only three hours of work every day! The probability of this promise materialising is about as likely as me getting pregnant.

There is a reason why only 2% of people who try and make money online actually make it and I have a theory. My theory consists of two parts. 1, failure to finish & 2, lack of knowledge. I will elaborate on these now for you.

Firstly, we are going to talk about “failure to finish.” This is important because if you have been trying to make money online for some time now, you will probably be stuck in this cycle, the cycle being, you buy a product, use it, see no results, buy another product. I personally was trapped in this cycle for 14 months when I first started out and kick myself everyday for doing it! If you’re going to try and learn something, then spend the time learning and implementing it, and you should see results.

The fact of the matter is, if you want to make it online as a successful internet marketer, just like if you were trying to make it in any other business, you have to know your subject. There is no magic, “click a button” for money. There is no “build it and they will come” website opportunity and to be honest, if something sounds too good to be true then guess what, it probably is!

Nothing in this world comes with out honest hard work but, the beautiful thing, and I’m going to stress the word beautiful here is, once you have done the work on the internet, it “stays done.” This is what they mean by only “three hours a day of work” or “autopilot,” because once you have put the hours in working on different techniques that will drive potential customers to your website, you won’t have to do that work again, in fact you will be able to spend more time improving those techniques and getting better results from your efforts

The next point in my break down of “lack of knowledge” for this article is maximising your efforts. If you spend three hours a day doing something wouldn’t you rather those hours actually gave you results? Not only results, but the best results you can get from three hours of work? I know what I prefer!

The advantages of using Twitter are endless. You should not discount the popularity of Twitter, considering the most powerful man in the world (Barack Obama) has one. Not to mention the endless amounts of celebrities, musicians and general people on the planet. Even Google gives this relatively new Social Networking platform a page rank of 8.

When you set up your account, try to use an alternative email, one that relates to your product service or website. It is a lot more professional if you do it that way.

The first thing you need to do when setting up your Twitter profile is to perform the obvious tasks of creating your profile, adding a photo, changing the background and entering your website URL in your profile. It is also relevant to mention at this time that you should have a number of twitter accounts for every different niche you have or are promoting.

OK so you have a twitter account in your niche. Now you want to know how to get targeted followers on twitter (Tweeps) to be able to establish successful relationships and ultimately enable yourself to earn money from your account.

The way we get followers is a simple process, go to your twitter home and search for keywords relating to your site, this will bring up people that have recently tweeted about your chosen niche! All you have to do is go on one of the pages in the results (ensuring what they were talking about, was relevant to your product or service) add them and the people who are following them. Chances are the people are following them are interested in that specific niche.

You can repeat this process over and over again but there are some important things to consider when you are doing this:

1) You should only add from 100 to 250 people everyday. If you fail to do this, twitter will think that you are a robot, adding people automatically and either suspend your account or delete it. This would be extremely bad if they did this.

2) Another key thing to take into consideration is the ratio of followers to following. When you reach 2,000 following, you won’t be able to add any more people until you are followed by 2,000 people. The way to get around this is to remove some of the people who aren’t following you and add some more until you have enough people following you.

This process will snowball and the more people you add who add you back will grow over time. It may seem like a really long drawn out process and it may be quite frustrating at times but the results in the end will be amazing for you.

So what are the different methods of getting Traffic?  Here is a list of my “traffic getting” strategies for beginners.

SEO (Organic Results)
This is where you edit the content of you’re site to suit your desired keywords and create backlinks to it on the internet.  If you don’t pay for pay-per-click advertising and your site is ranked on the first page or at least reasonablt high in google, then this is what is meant by the term organic.

Pay Per Click
Pay Per Click is quite simply where you create a campain in one of the search engines or even on some social sites such as facebook.  The basics are easily learned and it pays to be diligent in the setting up process of your campaigns.  The benefit of Pay Per Click advertising is you are getting, probably the most targeted traffic available, to your site.  The downside is it can be expensive.  This is why testing and constant monitoring and “tweaking” is vital for a successful campain.

Article Marketing
This is a really good way of bringing in traffic to your site.  Your results will be directly proportional to the time commited to keyword research however, you may just be lucky and “hit gold” with an article,  you never know.  The main reason why keyword research is so important is because the sites you submit you’re articles too are already ranked high on google and similar search engines.  Oh and obviously, article marketing is completely free.

Posting on Forums
Two benefits you get from posting on forums, well three really.  Number 1, you get to learn while you work.  Listen to what other people have to say, get involved and learn, it’s as simple as that.  Number 2, Backlinks to you’re site that may just generate an interest on the forum you are posting too and create traffic for you.  And finally Number 3, you get to become part of a community and become known by the people you correspond with.  Obviously this comes with time but you won’t get anywhere unless you take part.

Social Sites
Social Sites are a really good way fo generating traffic, especially if you, for example have following on twitter that are interested in a certain niche, it’s as good as an email list really.  Another thing is the fact that social sites are associated with friends so you get the benefit of potentially already having established a relationship with your prospect.  Tell your friend about your site, if it provides value to their life they will visit your site, visitors = traffic, simple.

Offline Advertising
Never disreguard the power of offline advertising such as billboards, tv, cars, business cards, seminars or joint ventures.  I’ll give you a couple of examples of companies that are into marketing or shall I say Affiliate Marketing and have really good offline marketing strategies, my favorite of which being comparethemeerkat.com.  I feel the idea behind this marketing campain is qutie simply, genius!  MoneySupermarket.com is another of a company that has established a name for it’s self through offline advertising.  Neither of these companies have any products!  They quite simply generate sales for other companies and make money off the commissions, Simples.

Video Marketing
This is a really, really powerful way of making money online and generating traffic to your site, people like to watch videos!  If you, again, tie your efforts in with some good keyword research you will be able to see really impressive results in relatively short periods of time.  You don’t have to be able to direct like stanley kubrick, you just have to be able to make a powerpoint presentation and record it with a free screen recorder, nothing difficult about that at all.  Infact, if you’r really skint, you can download open office org for free, make a presentation on there, record it with the free screen recorder, do some keyword research with googles free keyword tool and bring in loags and loads of FREE traffic to your site.  Wonderful!

I have just included a few “traffic getting” examples in this article to show you that there are a lot of different methods out there for bringing eyes to what you have to offer.  Learn each one and do a bit each day and you will be unstopable!

Providing you have enough traffic the final way of moentising on both types is to offer advertising space such as a banner or box.  If you have enough quality traffic, people will be happy to pay for advertising.

WordPress is awesome because it has loads and loads of really cool and useful plug-ins ranging from SEO to falling snow at christmas.

A reason why using a blog and more specifically WordPress is that is is a CMS (Content Management System) meaning you can easily add, change or edit information on your blog without the need for FTPing to make changes to your site and for this very reason Google loves blogs, fresh content delivered is the key to getting any form of rating on goolge.
